It’s that time of year again… time to start thinking about your Christmas list! But don’t stress out! I am here to help you. I’ve put together some of my favorite photography items, as well as a few things that I hope to see under my own tree this year…hint, hint Santa!
So check out my unique Christmas gift ideas for photographers list before you head out the door or to your computer to shop for the photographer in your life.
A New Camera
So, let’s start with the obvious gift ideas for photographers…The Camera. If you have someone who’s been wishing for a new camera, here are my favs! Everyone always asks me what camera I have. I am a loyal Canon user. That’s all I’ve ever owned and all I will ever own.
Currently, I am using a Canon 6D Mark II, and I LOVE it. It is a full-frame camera with incredible image quality, fast focus, and many focus points. I am incredibly happy with it! But the camera I often tell my students to look at is the Canon Rebel T7. It’s a great starter DSLR. It’s affordable, easy to use, has excellent image quality, and makes the perfect gift for the beginning photographer.
A New Camera Lens
My go-to lens is the Canon 50mm f1.8. I love this lens for portraits because it allows me to shoot wide open and achieve that gorgeous blurry background that I love. I also love that it’s so affordable. It’s the cheapest lens in my bag, but the one you will find on my camera most of the time!
Online Courses & Communities
Education…it doesn’t matter what type of equipment you buy someone if they don’t know how to use it, chances are, it will sit in the box! So fill their stocking with a gift certificate for an online course. If they want to capture precious memories, they don’t want to be fumbling with focus and struggling with the settings. Give them the Beginners Photography Essentials, and they’ll learn to switch their camera from Auto to Manual and never look back. And as a Black Friday Special, there is a TON of additional bonus materials.
Camera Equipment Bag
A great bag…I have the Think Tank Lily Deanne Mezzo bag, and I love it! It’s sleek, full of pockets, and big enough for all of my equipment. There are plenty of camera bags out there to choose from. Backpacks, bags, you name it, you can find it.
Camera Accessories
A super fun camera strap…Fotostrap has the coolest camera straps. A lot of which are on sale right now. From the Limited Edition straps to the Designer straps, they have a huge selection and something for everyone. I love this company, not only because they make some rockin’ camera straps but because 10% of every purchase goes to Fotolanthropy, an amazing charity using photography to document people’s journeys through adversity.
Remote Shutter Release
Okay, I am never in photos, or should I say I was never in photos? That was until I bought this remote shutter release. Not only does it help your photographer friends be in some of the pictures, but it’s also great when the camera is set up on a tripod.
Camera Jewelry
I am so hoping this makes it into my stocking this year! Bryan Anthony’s camera necklace is the perfect, classy piece of jewelry for any photographer on your list. Or, if your photographer is more of the charm bracelet type, check out Pandora’s vintage camera charm. You really can’t go wrong with either one!
A Travel Mug
One of my favorite gift ideas for photographers is this fun travel coffee mug. It looks super authentic and is made from durable food-grade PVC. It keeps your coffee hot, it’s dishwasher safe, and is the perfect gift.
A LensPen
This small, easy-to-use pen is super for cleaning your camera lenses. Great to use as a stocking stuffer and is perfect for any level of photographer.
I hope I’ve given you some unique gift ideas for photographers to help you tick off your shopping list this season. Remember, any of the gifts I’ve listed above will show how much you love and support the photographer in your life no matter what their experience level. And don’t forget to put a little something under the tree for yourself.
Happy Shopping!
